BEYOND THE CLOUDS OF OUR PROBLEMS
WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH
In this diabolical age of broken homes, broken marriages and broken hearts; of
homeless kids, where some people in their despair turn to the quick-fix of some
form of addiction, and some others even opt out of this life to end the trauma -
in this age we urgently need to take a look at the way we relate to others.
Our families are not a bad place to start. The words "I love you", may sound
like music to the ears of those who are hurting, but far more important is the
way we behave toward them.
Family members can feel lonely, despairing, and hopeless - right in our own
family. What can we do about it?
In other places in this website there are references to some famous advice given
many years ago by Jesus. He said that whatever we want people to do for us we
should do for them. We can go out of our way to make those near to us to be
happy - to help them achieve their honest goals in life.
But it has to be more
than words.
It quite likely has to do with time. How much time? Enough. Enough
to assure those close to us that we really do have their interests at heart -
that we really do care about them - that we really are their friend.
If
collectively we took this responsibility and we each made sure that our loved
ones really have this assurance then maybe as a society we could largely stem
the tide of broken lives and despair that seem set to overwhelm us.
This attitude of care for others will have a spin-off for us as well.
If we
attempt to make others happy, we too will be happy.
May I suggest that before leaving this website that you read two other articles
called: "Beyond Your Problems There Is Hope", and "God's Incredible Promise". If
you take on board the advice and the hope for the future that you may discover
there, it should help you to assure and encourage those who are close to you.
Don't put it off. Your loved one's future may depend on it.
May God bless you.
